The over-the-shoulder combat would likely remain mostly the same, although with a few refinements and tweaks from Resident Evil 2 and 3. RE 4 created the basis that both the recent remakes are inspired by. Gameplay is also tricky with the Resident Evil 4 remake, as it’s not nearly as dated as the previous game. Of course, only time will tell on the exact developers, once there’s an official announcement. M-Two did help with development on the Resident Evil 3 Remake, and the rumor says that the development of RE 4’s remake would also be worked on by the Resident Evil 2 and Devil May Cry 5 teams. The development will supposedly be headed by M-Two, a new studio founded by the former head of Platinum Games, Tatsuya Minami. Most likely, Capcom would want to release Resident Evil 8 before another remake.

This reduced fidelity may be a trade-off for having more zombies on screen, but it wasn't worth it. At least the shotgun still packs a punch. They hardly react to the limp, rattly assault rifle (a new weapon), and even popping them with a pistol has less of the crunchy feedback that made Resident Evil 2's combat so enjoyable. It's like the physics that govern them have been severely reduced, or removed altogether.
